ChampionScott Partners is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Virkler as Executive Vice President and General Manager, PetroCore to PetroSkills. Mr. Virkler is a seasoned executive with a breadth of experience building and executing business strategies around delivering content online. He brings a unique blend of product development, business development, and operational management experience from both start-up and large scale companies.
Mr. Virkler joins PetroSkills from Elsevier where he served as SVP, Medical Electronic Products since 2009, and VP, Search Strategy and Business Development for the three years prior. At Elsevier, Mr. Virkler was responsible for setting the strategic direction for the global medical journal business and establishing new revenue web based models. He also was directly involved with Elsevier’s Web 2.0 initiatives, including community based tools and dynamic content creation.
Prior to joining Elsevier, Mr. Virkler led Business Development and New Product Development for the startup business GlobalSpec, a successful venture-backed vertical search and lead generation business focused on the Engineering community. Earlier in his career, he was recruited to General Electric through the Air Force’s Junior Officer’s program and held various positions during his six year tenure culminating as Director and Manager of Global and Corporate Sourcing.
Mr. Virkler was Commanding Officer (Lt. Colonel), United States Air Force, Active Duty and Air Guard for a total of 22 years gaining extensive leadership skills and serving in Operation Desert Storm. He holds a BS, Management Information Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a MBA from Gannon University.
