ChampionScott Partners announces the appointment of Scott Kauffman to LookSmart’s Board of Directors in a search that was completed in less than 90 days. Mr. Kauffman is recognized as an expert in the fields of digital entertainment, internet media and consumer marketing.

Mr. Kauffman has more than 25 years of senior executive and board leadership experience with both public and private companies. Most recently, he was the CEO and Board Director of Geeknet (NASDAQ:GKNT), the parent company of SourceForge, Slashdot and ThinkGeek. Mr. Kauffman joined Geeknet shortly after Yahoo! acquired BlueLithium, where he served as President and COO.

Prior to joining BlueLithium, Mr. Kauffman was CEO of several venture-backed internet start-ups including Zinio, MusicNow, Coremetrics and eCoverage. In 1997 he became CEO of AdKnowledge, where he filed to take the company public before negotiating its sale to CMGI in 1999. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kauffman held senior leadership positions at companies including CompuServe, Time Warner and Newsweek.

Mr. Kauffman is currently the Chairman of several venture-backed Internet companies including TuneUp Media, MetaChannels, Lotame and Mintbox. He is also a member of the Board of MDC Partners (NASDAQ:MDCA).

Mr. Kauffman holds an A.B. in English from Vassar College and an MBA in marketing from New York University.
