ChampionScott Partners is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Johnson as Vice President of Technology to Valent U.S.A. Corporation.  Mr. Johnson brings 29 years of global agriculture technology experience to Valent, having been in a wide range of business and technology leadership roles over a successful three-decade career at Monsanto.  Mr. Johnson will oversee all research and development functions, as well as all regulatory activities, for Valent.

Mr. Johnson joins Valent after a considerable career with Monsanto Company, where he was involved in the development and launch of innovative technologies in crop protection and biotechnology on a global scale.  Most recently, Eric led international business development for the newly created Integrated Farming Systems platform, delivering fully integrated solutions serving modern agricultural systems.  Prior to that, he was Vice President of Research and Development for Brazil, where he created tropical research programs and guided the deregulation and development of newly commercialized products and technologies in the region.  Eric also succeeded in leadership roles spanning research, technology and product development, and strategy in North America, Asia/Pacific, Europe and Latin America.

Mr. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from The College of William and Mary, a master’s degree in weed science and a doctorate in plant pathology from North Carolina State University, and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.

Eric Johnson will be based in the company’s headquarters in Walnut Creek, California.
