Doug possesses extensive general management experienceleading media technology companies in both the US and Asian markets.

Prior to joining Ascend, Doug Kaplan was an operational advisor to venture capital firms. Doug co-founded multiple media technologies companies, including Denalii, Ringier Studios, and most recently a next generation intelligent information platform company. Previously, as VP of Growth, Partnerships & Alliances at Innovative Interfaces, Doug defined and led the strategy to expand the company’s global and product footprint.

Previously, Doug served as CEO of the Asia Pacific region at LexisNexis, where he defined and launched more than 20 major products and services across 13 markets. Doug was also President of the Asia Pacific region at RealNetworks, where he launched the music, games and community b2c paradigms for the advanced broadband and mobile markets of Asia Pacific. Doug previously held senior leadership roles at NetGravity, Nikkei BP and CMP. Doug began his career in Japan in leading media companies.

Doug earned his B.A. in Asian Studies and Economics from UC Berkeley. He is fluent in Japanese.
