James Drake Appointed IP Special Counsel of Corning
October 2005 - ChampionScott Partners has placed James Drake at Corning, Inc. (www.corning.com) as the company’s new IP Special Counsel. With headquarters in Corning, NY, Corning is a diversified technology company with a proud history of developing breakthrough technologies that significantly improve people’s lives. Their focus is on high-impact growth opportunities in the telecommunications, flat panel display, environmental, life sciences and semiconductor industries.
Mr. Drakes joins Corning from The Dow Chemical Company where he was Business Counsel for the Dowpharma Business where he had responsibility for all legal functions of this $600 million global business unit. Mr. Drake joined Dow in 1999 as Special IP Counsel for their Custom and Fine Chemicals Global Business. Prior experience includes Division Patent Counsel for the BASF Corporation and Associate Patent Counsel for Nalco Chemical. Mr. Drake also spent several years in private practice with Weston Hurd Fallon Paisley & Howley. He received his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University and his B.S. Biology from Cleveland State University.
