Dr. Yanming Liu Placed as Chief Executive Officer of Salira

July 2005 - ChampionScott Partners has placed Dr. Yanming Liu at Salira (www.salira.com) as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer and board member. Based in Santa Clara, Salira develops EPON technology for the telecommunications industry.

Prior to Salira, Dr. Liu was the Vice President of Business Development for Optovia Corporation, a venture backed startup in Boston developing intelligent optical transport subsystems. Prior to Optovia, Dr. Liu was the Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Development for Walsin Management Company, a $2 billion global conglomerate with headquarters in Taiwan.

Prior to Walsin, Dr. Liu held several management and technical positions with Corning, where he invented LEAF optical fiber. Over $3 billion of LEAF fiber was sold worldwide. Dr. Liu was also responsible for the global marketing of the product and was personally responsible for the sale of over $300 million of LEAF fiber in China.

Upon joining Salira, Dr. Liu will move to China and will be based in Salira's office in Shanghai.

Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. from Princeton University and MBA from MIT.
